Classmate Response 2, Week 3

David Junkyard quote:

"When chicken is outlawed, only outlaws will have chicken." - A bumper sticker I saw on the way to class

Duh. This one is more of a outright statement trying to be clever, and I wanted to warn myself not to do this

My response:

I agree with your comments David. I think we should avoid using ‘bumper sticker’ language, or more generally played out clichés, but in a way we can use “bumper sticker” language. Catchy sayings, play on words are a little silly but I started to think about a story, or even a long poem that assumes chicken is illegal; there is this new state where meat is banned and there’s an underground demand for chicken. Prohibition for chicken, what kind of world would that look like? I am not a vegetarian, and you may not be either, but I think we can get a pretty good picture of what it is like for someone who doesn’t consume meat to interact with the world on a daily basis. What kind of dystopian society would reign when green stops being a revolution and started becoming a reality? I think you could use some funky new language with ‘bumpy sticker’ language.
